American Advanced Materials has raised $12.5 million in seed funding to develop an AI-native platform for producing materials used across the artificial intelligence, energy and defense industries.
Amity Ventures led the financing, with participation from Human Capital, Anti Fund and Powerset. The company said it plans to direct the capital toward hiring and the front-end engineering and design work required for its manufacturing projects.
A manufacturing layer between mining and finished products
Led by CEO Alex Liegl, American Advanced Materials is focused on the processing stage that connects raw mineral production with the downstream fabrication of finished goods. The company said its approach combines process expertise with engineering, artificial intelligence and robotics automation.
Its initial materials include titanium sponge and zirconium oxychloride, also known as ZOC. Those products are intended to serve as industrial inputs rather than end-user products. The company said its customers include domestic melters and alloy makers that supply the aerospace, AI infrastructure, defense and energy sectors.

Capital aimed at project development
The financing gives the startup capital to expand its workforce while progressing the engineering and design of its planned production projects. The company did not disclose a valuation or provide additional details about the size, location or timetable of those projects.
American Advanced Materials is based in Mountain View, California, and New York City. Its stated market focus places the startup at the intersection of industrial manufacturing and sectors that are seeking more specialized supply chains for computing infrastructure, military systems and energy equipment.
- Funding: $12.5 million seed round
- Lead investor: Amity Ventures
- Planned use: Team growth plus engineering and design for manufacturing projects
The company’s strategy centers on manufacturing the intermediate materials needed by downstream industrial producers. By targeting that midstream stage, American Advanced Materials is addressing a part of the supply chain between mineral extraction and the production of alloys, components and other finished materials.
