Fal has raised $1.3 billion in a financing led by existing investor Bessemer Venture Partners, valuing the San Francisco-based AI inference startup at $16 billion. The company is set to announce the financing on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg.
The round more than doubles Fal’s valuation from the $8 billion level established in April, when the company raised $350 million in a Sequoia-led financing. Other investors in the latest deal include Nvidia Corp., Sound Ventures, HOF Capital and T. Rowe Price Group Inc.
Capital for rising inference demand
Fal provides infrastructure for developers and creators that host and run image, video and audio models. Its business is focused on inference—the stage after model training when an AI system processes information and produces an output.
That workload has grown as developers use generative-AI systems in applications involving media creation and other interactive services. Fal chief executive officer and co-founder Burkay Gur said the company sought a large financing partly because customer demand had outpaced its available computing capacity.
“We hit a point in summer where we were not able to serve our customers and had to rate limit them,” Gur said.
The financing is intended to help Fal secure additional computing power as it expands its inference services. The company’s requirement for more capacity reflects the cost structure of AI infrastructure businesses, which must obtain or lease the computing resources needed to operate models for customers.
Fal’s financing history

| April round | $350 million | $8 billion valuation; led by Sequoia |
Bessemer partner Talia Goldberg is joining Fal’s board. The firm’s continued involvement places an existing investor at the center of a financing that gives the startup substantially more capital and a sharply higher private-market valuation.
Fal is part of a wider group of venture-backed companies building services for AI inference. Bloomberg reported that Modal and Baseten, which also provide inference services, have been discussing fundraisings at high valuations. Fal’s financing comes as developers’ appetite for running trained AI systems increases, while providers compete for access to the computing resources required to deliver those systems.
