Wego, a firm that offers high-quality travel search websites for tourists living in the APAC and the Middle East regions, has reportedly formed a strategic alliance for encouraging Middle East tourists to visit Saudi after almost one and a half years of break.
Saudi Tourism Authority and Wego will partner for driving tourist traffic and visits from the region to Saudi’s bustling cities of Riyadh and Jeddah and its endless sand dunes, desert oases, mountain peaks, and booming Red Sea coastline.
Saudi has been known globally for the way it responded to the outbreak and was one of the first countries to execute early and unexpected precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Through its platform, Wego saw an increase of 1700% in-flight quests from Saudi to the UAE, just days after the announcements of flight renewals in early September 2021.
Mamoun Hmedan, Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director, MENA and India, Wego, said that the team is excited to enter the partnership with the Saudi Tourism Authority as it reflects the commitment to enhance tourism in the region to a place not the same in the world.
Mamoun added that since the flight reopening announcement to Saudi, the firm has been recording a strong demand for flight and hotel searches and bookings to the country from the region.
In October 2021, around 4 million flight searches were recorded on the platform. The top destinations ruling searches to Saudi from MENA region are UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, Oman and Jordan.
Ahmed Elbahr, Director Middle East & Africa, Saudi Tourism Authority, quoted that as the country continues to expand and grow its presence internationally, the Middle East and Africa will remain the most important significant source markets for Saudi.
It has been reported that Saudi is on a path to building a leading global destination. Forming collaborations play a key role in spreading awareness and enhancing conversions so that more travelers can experience Saudi’s exceptional culture and heritage, many entertainment offerings, and untouched natural landscape.
