It is worth noting that Uber currently has a workforce of about 1000 in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In 2021, Uber added 250 engineers to its India team as it expanded its operations in various countries, including the U.S., India, and Canada.
This week, Uber opened a new facility in its tech center in Bengaluru. According to Manikandan Thangarathnam, the Senior Director at Uber, the company is looking for engineers and data scientists who are passionate about working on new products and services.
The ride-hailing giant’s tech centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad handle various critical functions, such as data science, mapping, and rider engineering. They also work on developing new products and services for the company business.
Praveen Neppalli Naga, Head of Mobility Engineering at Uber, said that India is a key market for the company, and it is constantly working on creating the most innovative products and services.
Speaking of innovation, Uber is reportedly working on a pilot bus-service program in Delhi, that will allow users to book a seat on a bus through the Uber app. The bus service, which was initially watched for the B2B space, is now in the works for the B2C sector.
Uber is also testing this feature in Cairo Egypt apart from Delhi. The company expects to acquire 100 million customers who intend to spend less and access a convenient and safe mobility solution.
