Social commerce platform Shopsy unveils zero-commission marketplace


Flipkart-owned social commerce platform, Shopsy has announced the launch of a new online marketplace in India that operates on zero commission.

As per sources, Flipkart plans to use its platform to assist and bring about smaller vendors in the fashion, grocery, and home categories online. This will strengthen the platform's supply of items and catalogs and promote e-commerce growth in tier 2 cities and villages.

The company stated in a press release that 70% of Flipkart's customers are from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Flipkart intends to scale this up to 90% with Shopsy. The company reckons that gamification, combined with social commerce capabilities, will assist it in accomplishing this goal.

Shop & Earn is one such feature of the platform in which customers can unlock larger incentives by meeting a weekly/monthly goal. For fringe e-commerce clients, this type of gamification will increase credibility and evangelization.

Senior Vice President - Growth and Monetization, Flipkart, Prakash Sikaria notified that Shopsy has now onboarded approximately 200,000 users within a month of its launch. With the start of the Festive season, the platform plans to continue growing over the following two months by adding new features and products for Indians who want to get started with social commerce.

Shopsy grows by 100%, week after week. The platform is performing like a conventional social app, and virality is starting to take hold. The further this journey, the firm aspires to bring the best of e-commerce to social commerce and is committed to expand the scope of e-commerce, Sikaria concluded.

Shopsy offers social commerce chances for ambitious Indians. Its users can distribute catalogs of a wide range of 2 million (15 crores) products offered by Flipkart vendors across social media and communication apps by leveraging their local network.
