Oxford Science Enterprises (OSE), an investment company intended to found, fund, and shape transformational businesses via its unique collaboration with the University of Oxford, has recently announced that it has successfully secured funding for a further £250 million ($300 million).
With this funding, the total amount raised by the OSE has been valued at £850 million (around $1 billion) since its commencement in 2015.
The funds are expected to deepen the capital pool of OSE and empower the firm in identifying exceptional science further from the University of Oxford, providing hands-on support, initial funding, and access to professional networks and start-up infrastructure for building new spinouts across Health Tech, Deep Tech, and Life Sciences.
Additionally, OSE is expected to constantly support its current and maturing portfolio, placing a large amount of capital in later-stage funding rounds.
Alexis Dormandy, OSE's CEO (Chief Executive Officer), said that the firm is pleased to accomplish this new fundraising. Acquiring new and existing global investors reveal their zeal for the strength of Oxford's science and further its plans to exert a positive impact.
Dormandy said that the fundraiser has happened at an exciting and vital time for OSE. The firm consists of a talented team and provides the model of converting innovative science into a varied portfolio of transformational businesses.
Alexis further said that the companies will continue to make breakthroughs in problems like heart failure, infectious diseases, cancer, food security, climate change, and quantum computing.
In the coming years, the firm expects these companies to continue to make significant progress with the ongoing effort. With the support from the shareholders, the firm looks forward to helping them deliver impact and returns.
This capability to offer scale-up capital is vital for OSE to empower its businesses to innovate through significant development milestones, expanding their chances of success and augmenting potential impacts and returns.
Furthermore, this new fundraise announced recently includes a different group of international investors, with substantial contributions from new blue-chip and the existing investors, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and asset managers.
