This summer a restaurant yurt was installed at the pond


Vincent Viou (30 years) and his partner Bénédicte Chavana (31 years) were looking for an old farmhouse after traveling and living in different places (Brittany, Cantal, Corsica ...). They wanted to live there and combine their desire to open a restaurant in the city of Saint-Romain-les-Atheux for three years.

After not finding anything satisfactory, they settled in what is known as a contemporary yurt for their primary residence, where they live with their 3-year-old daughter.

They worked on this project with the outgoing community who offered them a location, either around the multipurpose hall or the pond. In front of the idyllic backdrop, they didnt hesitate for a moment.

Vincent is a professional chef for a restaurant in Saint-Etienne but has been closed for several months for health reasons. A stop he has been able to use on their project since he built his future, contemporary restaurant yurt himself by assembling panels that he just had to send to the construction site to fix. to others.

'A clean workforce, but also familiar and friendly on weekends and even until dark with the headlights of the cars,' says Bénédicte, referring to the installation of the module for the kitchen last week. Reserve / sanitary facilities already on site.

The installation is carried out under the guise of an architect who specializes in housing in natural materials (yurt, hut), which are valuable for such a project. 'We tried to be local and to manage ourselves. Its normal for us, its in our approach,' says Bénédicte.

The space

The yurt with a diameter of 8 meters and a height of 4 meters is dedicated only to the dining room overlooking the pond, which is visible through the openings. A capacity of a maximum of 30 seats and opening times, mainly in the evenings during the week and also at noon on the weekend.
