he takes over the restaurant rue de la Rivière amid a pandemic

Alexandre Bernaz, who owned his own business, had thought about it for a long time. The dream came true this autumn with the takeover of the Rue de la Rivière restaurant (formerly Pizzeria Les Terrasses).

'We got off to a good start and that cut us off on our tracks.'

But after 'a good start' the health context was brought into the project, forcing the chef, who works with his partner Océane Piemonte, to review his plans.

He explains: “With the closure we had to make a decision to sell take-out. We got off to a good start and that cut us off. The new curfew doesnt help. “We have to adapt here too,” the owner of the premises slips. It is obvious that this will have an impact, but we are going to think about a formula that will allow customers to collect their orders before 6:00 p.m. ''

Of course, the Prologue to the Tale of the Wild Spirit isnt what the couple intended to write. However, it doesnt change the enthusiasm. “We are full of broth and impatient to be able to receive them again on the terrace or in the room (35 covers). Its a restaurant with a story and its a beautiful tool that we have on our hands, in a noteworthy setting, very well located towards the leisure center. ''

'With the curfew we have to adapt again'

Alexandre and Océane also decided to rename the house with a nod to the passion for nature that characterizes the chef, and then add a refined decoration on the same theme. The cuisine will be a mix of local and traditional.

“Ive always liked the friendly hostel, but I want people to have a good culinary time when they come to us. I work with local quality products as much as possible, ”argues the restaurateur, who otherwise has a very rich career.

Twelve years of experience, a professional high school diploma in cooking, internships with several star chefs (Beau Rivage, Domaine de Clairefontaine or even Marcon), a position in second place with the Blue Cedars, then head chef at Savoir-Fer (Unieux) and Garagna (Firminy), thats it for the résumé.

Take meals with you while you wait for something better

LEsprit Sauvage organized a competition 'to thank those who trusted us from the start,' says Océane Piemonte. The two winners were selected this Friday: Dams Franc and Caroline Bonnevialle.

The menu also promises variety (menu of the day, children, connoisseurs, hunter and fishermen menu, snails, seasonal salads, prime rib and, depending on the season, more elaborate meals).

At the moment it is possible to order a different take-away dish every weekend. For the week the fishermens formulas (grated, frogs, desserts) and connoisseurs (grated, cold cuts, dessert) as well as the “wild” burger are available.
