Goods purchases and energy consumption

In November, the decline in household spending mainly affected purchases of industrial goods (-30.1{7d3485657e94c2a51293ca186d4450b2f27c317aa7ee3509dac6c8bbf5461118}) and energy costs (-19.2{7d3485657e94c2a51293ca186d4450b2f27c317aa7ee3509dac6c8bbf5461118}) due to the closure of so-called non-essential businesses and travel restrictions. In particular, spending on clothing and textiles fell by more than half (-53{7d3485657e94c2a51293ca186d4450b2f27c317aa7ee3509dac6c8bbf5461118}).

Food consumption also decreased by 5.8{7d3485657e94c2a51293ca186d4450b2f27c317aa7ee3509dac6c8bbf5461118}. Just like the tobacco, the price of which rose on November 1st, INSEE points out.
